El
Teatro Taller de Colombia con 34 años de historia
es uno de los grupos pioneros del teatro callejero en Colombia. En
su sede, ubicada en una casa del tradicional
barrio La Candelaria en Bogotá, desarrolla la actividad
administrativa, pedagógica y artística. En
su búsqueda,
iniciada en 1972, esta agrupación ha enfocado su investigación
en el trabajo del actor, a través de la experimentación
teatral conformando una filosofía de teatro de grupo.
Sus espectáculos se realizan en áreas populares
y en espacios no convencionales, como plazas, parques y
calles.
Desde
1993, el Teatro Taller de Colombia inició el proyecto
de construcción y dotación de la primera Escuela
Internacional de Teatro Callejero y Técnicas de Circo
en Latinoamérica. La capacitación y formación
de nuevos actores que manejen el lenguaje teatral callejero
y las artes circenses, son los objetivos primordiales que se
ha propuesto el grupo con la escuela; la sede de este proyecto
pedagógico esta ubicada en el sur de Colombia, en la
Jagua, municipio de Garzón (Huila).
Al ritmo cambiante del nuevo siglo el Teatro Taller de
Colombia con sus nuevos montajes marca una búsqueda y una experimentación
que prosigue hacia nuevos horizontes, hacia una nueva dramaturgia
para espacios abiertos con la ambición de acceder también
a nuevos públicos. Por más de un cuarto de siglo,
sus representaciones los han llevado a los más importantes
eventos teatrales de Colombia y el mundo, ganando el reconocimiento
del público y la crítica especializada.
Su
experiencia artística y de gestión logró
que en 1997, la agrupación organizará el evento
“AL AIRE PURO”
– Festival Internacional de Teatro Callejero, evento que
reunió en Bogotá a más de 30 compañías
provenientes de Asia, Europa y América. El éxito
de este evento internacional los ha llevado a institucionalizar
el Festival cada dos años, llegando en agosto del 2007
a su sexta versión.
Los fundadores y directores del grupo son Mario Matallana y Jorge
Vargas, quienes han formado y visto surgir, en estos cinco lustros
de trabajo continuo, nuevas generaciones de actores de calle
y sala.
Los directores
Actores, directores y pedagogos, egresados
del Teatro La Mama de Bogotá. Han realizado importantes experiencias con el Odin
Teatret de Dinamarca con Eugenio Barba. Igualmente, han podido
compartir de cerca el trabajo con Peter Shumman del “Bread
and Puppet, el San Francisco Mime Trupe, el Bond Stree de los E.
U., el Foot Barn Theater de Francia, el Teatro Núcleo, el
Tascabille Teatro, el Potlach Teatros de Italia, Yuyaskani y el
Teatro Cuatrotablas del Perú. Así mismo con alumnos
del Laboratorio de Grotowski, Augusto Boal, Osvaldo Dragún,
Enrique Buenaventura, Julian Beck, Arthur Miller, Richart Astroong,
Isso Miura, entre otros maestros y grupos que les han transmitido
valiosos aportes y vivir experiencias significativas en cuanto
a su aprendizaje teatral. Fundaron juntos el Teatro Taller de Colombia
y han dictado talleres en Perú, México, Costa
Rica, EE.UU, Republica de Corea, Italia, Dinamarca y Colombia.

Teatro Taller de Colombia with it 30 years of history, is one of the pioneer street theater groups in Colombia. From is headquarters, located in Bogotà´s traditional La Candelaria neighborthood, it develops administrative pedagogic and artistic activities. Ever since 1972, year when its search began, this groups has focused its investigation on the artist’s work, through theatrical experimentation, conforming a philosophy of group theater. Its presentations take place in popular sites and non convertional spaces such as squares, parks and street.
In 1993, Teatro Taller de Colombia started the construction and endowment of the first international street theater and Circus Techniques School. The capacitation and training of new actors that could handle the theatrical language of street theater and circus arts, are the main objectives set by the group regarding this school. The site ofthis pedagogical project is located the south if Colombia, in La Jagua, municipality of Garzôn (Huila).
At the pace of the chaning rythm of the milenium, Teatro Taller de Colombia with is new productions sets a mark in search and experimentation seeking horizons for a new kind of dramaturgy for open spaces and the ambition of reaching new audiences as well. Over a fourth of century, its representations have taken the group to the most important theatrical events both in Colombia and abroad, earning recognition from audiences and specializad critics.
In 1997, both its artistic and administrative experience achieved the organization of the Festival AL AIRE PURO International encounter of street theater and Circus School, event that gathered over thirty different companies from Asia, Europe and American Continent. The success of this international event set forth the institutionalization of the festival every year, presenting its third version in august 2001.
The founders and directors group are Mario Matallana and Jorge Vargas, who on these thirty year continuous work have trained and seen the success of new generations of street and stage actors. At present, in this project of living they are accompanied by actors and actresses.
